Kelsey Howatt

Originally from White City, Saskatchewan, Kelsey Howatt is now a Toronto-based performer. She grew up singing and dancing both competitively (musical theatre, jazz, lyrical, tap, ballet, hip-hop) and in a junior musical theatre performing group. In high school, she spent three summers with SaskExpress (formerly known as Saskatchewan Express), a high-energy, semi-professional touring company under the direction of Carol Gay Bell. She was also heavily involved in her high school’s music program, alongside taking private voice, music theory, and piano. After high school, she was fortunate enough to get a taste of the professional performer life, having been cast in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at Regina’s regional theatre, Globe Theatre. From there, she realized that performing was not only the right career path for her, but also a viable career path. Kelsey began teaching both voice and dance at a young age and has had the opportunity to teach in many different styles; her specialties, however, always remained musical theatre and tiny tot classes. With the help of her Grade 8 RCM exam knowledge in both voice and theory, alongside all her musical theatre training, she is a knowledgeable and versatile vocal instructor who has experience teaching both privately and in group classes. Kelsey has a diploma in musical theatre from Randolph College for the Performing Arts. She is very much looking forward to continuing to teach in the fall and share her passion with the next generation.
